From the legendary Boston Red Sox to 16 time NBA champions, Boston Celtics, from Fenway to TD Banknorth Garden, Boston’s football, basketball, hockey and baseball games prevail as the city’s most popular pastime.
Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics symbolizes five decades of NBA tradition. A charter member of the Basketball Association of America (which evolved into the NBA), Boston flies more title banners from the rafters of its home arena - TD Banknorth Garden - than any other franchise in basketball history. The Celtics have won 16 NBA Championships - a record 8 in a row from 1959-1966. If you're looking for the legends of the game then you need to look no further than the Boston Celtics. The Green and White is home to some of the greatest players to ever lace up a pair of sneakers and the greatest coaches to ever blow a whistle. Ranging from Arnold "Red" Auerbach to JoJo White, the Celtics have celebrated 16 World Championships, have 29 Hall-of-Famers and after raising #31 this season, will have 22 retired numbers. When the NBA celebrated its 50th anniversary by unveiling the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history, in 1996-97, 13 were former members of the Boston Celtics. The 13 combined for 42 NBA Championships with the Celtics, 10 MVP awards, three Finals MVP awards and three Rookies of the Year awards, proving the Boston Celtics to be one of the most legendary franchises in all of sports. www.nba.com/celtics [Top]Boston Hotel Near Fenway Park, TD Banknorth Garden & Gillette Stadium. Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. The legendary American League’s Boston Red Sox continues to attract diehard fans to historic Fenway Park. Though generations have come and gone, Fenway remains, much like it did the day it opened in 1912. The home of the Boston Red Sox resounds with the echoes of great baseball players, such as Cy Young, Babe Ruth, Jimmy Collins, Duffy Lewis, Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, Joe Cronin, Bobby Doerr, Johnny Pesky, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Carlton Fisk, Jim Rice and Carl Yastrzemski. Located in the Fenway section of Boston, Fenway Park's peculiar dimensions were not intended to provide a tempting target for home run hitters, but to keep non-paying customers out of the park. In left field, there was a steep 10-foot embankment that ran in front of the wall where Red Sox fans were allowed to sit. The Sox' Duffy Lewis was so skilled at playing balls hit to the ledge that it became known as Duffy's Cliff. Boston Bruins. Since the Boston Bruin’s first season of NHL action in 1924, many players, coaches, and general managers have pledged their loyalty to the black and gold. In doing so, they have made their mark on Boston Bruins' history. Over the years, nine players have been honored by having their numbers taken out of circulation, including Bobby Orr’s # 4, and five Bruins teams have earned the right to skate with the Stanley Cup. Bruins home games are played at TD Banknorth Garden. For information and tickets, visit www.bostonbruins.com. [Top]

There are currently three former Patriots who have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and 11 former Patriots who have been inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame. In one of the most exciting Super Bowl finishes ever, Adam Vinatieri booted home a 48-yard field goal with no time left on the clock to give the Patriots a 20-17 Super Bowl XXXVI win, putting the final touches on their amazing 2002 season. Again the Patriots became the Super Bowl XXXVII Champions in 2004, creating a “dynasty by winning three Super Bowls within four years.
